Be prepared for a display of raucous Sicilian theatre as fishermen shout and wildly gesticulate to advertise their catch of bright pink prawns, already decapitated swordfish and almost every other species the Mediterranean has to offer.
Everywhere there is the smell of fresh fish and blood-stained water spills from laden tables onto the paving. This is business, intruding photographers and curious tourists are shoved aside as housewives and restaurant owners seek out the best catches.
